A film, television or industry personality will provide relevant insights into Australia's screen industry and some of the implications of screen piracy upon the nation's society and economy. Previous presenters have been Cathy Overett, Managing Director of New Holland Pictures and Filmmaker/Writer/Producer Richard Keddie.

Is Film and Television Piracy really a problem? Gail Grant, CEO IPAF, presents some research data to help us objectively assess the impact of film and television piracy upon society.

So what can we do about it? Bob Lewis, Education Writer, will demonstrate some of the educational resources available free and online as Print, Interactive or Screen units available at NothingBeatsTheRealThing.info. Teachers can see and experience how the resources can be used across the curriculum as standalone units or added to existing programs to encourage classroom discussion and participation.

Film Piracy - Your Actions Can Make a DIfference. A video from the website which sets up a scenario involving young people who need help with an ethical issue/dilemma - to download illegally or not? What would you do and what strategies can you come up with to make people more aware of this issue and hopefully convince them to stop?

Action - Learning - How can we engage the broader community?
Ryebuck Media will provide a brief overview of the unique Youth Challenge program outlining some of the
learning strategies designed to empower students to become ‘Screen copyright ambassadors’. Elements
of the Challenge program may be replicated in schools as well as the broader school community. This brief
session will also showcase aspects of NothingBeatsTheRealThing.info.
